CM assures to get Fr Bismarque's viscera report expeditiously

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has assured relatives of Fr Bismarque Dias to get the viscera report expeditiously from the Hyderabad laboratory.

“The brother of Fr Bismarque met me along with three other social activists. I have assured them to get the reports from Hyderabad as fast as possible”, Parsekar today told section of media.

A demand in this regard was made by relatives and social activists publicly as well as formally through letters.

They had also made a demand of transferring the police probe from the Old Goa police to the Crime Branch.

Parsekar however said no such demand was made to him when they met him.

He has however asked the police to submit him the preliminary report of investigation.

His party legislator Vishnu Wagh has however submitted him a letter, demanding to appoint a Special Investigative Team to probe the tragic death of Fr Bismarque.

BACKGROUND

Fr Bismarque, a priest-turned-activist, had died in the creek of his St Estevam village on 6 November, the day he went missing.

His dead body was found floating the next day morning little ahead from Babhol Manos (a sluice gate) where had gone for a swim post-midnight of 5 November.

Two teenage boys accompanying him told the Old Goa police that three of them had drunk almost two cartons of beer, since evening till midnight of 5 November, after which he had gone swimming in the creek.

The boys came home next day morning but not Fr Bismarque, whose clothes, sandals and mobile were found on the banks of the river.

While the first post-mortem report conducted at GMC hospital stated that he died due to drowning, relatives and social activists refused to believe it since he was receiving threat calls for some days.

The second post-mortem was demanded due to injuries found on his body. The second autopsy stated that the injury marks were not pre-mortem but marks of aquatic creatures.

While second autopsy has suggested waiting for viscera report and chemical analysis to know the actual cause of death, social activists and relatives have demanded a thorough probe into the tragic death of Fr Bismarque, from all angles.
