Goa Youth policy by next session: Tawadkar

Goa Youth Policy is expected by next Assembly session.

It would deal with the problems of youth, categorized into urban, coastal and rural, besides educated and uneducated.

“The groundwork has already been done by meeting the youth and knowing their problems and expectations”, said sports and youth affairs minister Ramesh Tawadkar.

He was replying to the debate on demands for grants on sports and youth affairs ministry.

According to Tawadkar, one youth conference in Margao and one in Canacona only for coastal youth has thrown enough light on several problems the younger generation is facing today.

“The youth policy would address all the issues and formulate a policy to provide definite direction to the younger generation”, said Tawadkar.

He also informed the House that the State Youth Festival would be first held in four zones and then at state level from next year.

While assuring one gymnasium to each village panchayat, Tawadkar said the government would provide 15 gymnasiums next year.

He also said the infrastructure for Lusofonia Games would be ready by 2 October.

The games are scheduled from 2 November this year in Goa.
