I don't want to be minister if not made CM: DyCM Francis

Goa’s Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza has decided to opt of the new state cabinet if he is not made the chief minister.

D’Souza, who returned from London today afternoon, told goanews.com that he will be firm on his decision.

He also claims support of around 10 to 12 party legislators. The BJP has 21 MLAs in the 40-member House.

D’Souza, the four-time MLA, has been with the saffron party since 2002.

“I am the seniormost in the party and deserving candidate for the CM’s post if our leader Manohar Parrikar is moving out”, he said.

In addition, D’Souza feels making him the chief minister would help the BJP nationwide since he hails from the minority community.

“I have suffered enough within my community due to my affiliation with the BJP and I deserve to be rewarded with elevation for my sacrifice”, the deputy chief minister told goanews.com.

D’Souza said he has decided not to back out under any circumstances and will voice out his stand openly before the cabinet.

Parrikar, after the cabinet meeting, has convened a meeting of four senior party leaders – D’Souza, Speaker Rajendra Arlekar, health minister Laxmikant Parsekar and water resources minister Dayanand Mandrekar - at his residence tonight.

D’Souza also confirmed that around five MLAs have already met him, expressing their support to him.

Mr. Francis D'souza should resign if he has some Self-Respect.
