Will BJP-HJS 'unite' in Goa for Hindu nation?

Goa is hosting two national meetings of Hindu organizations, but probably with different agendas – political and religious.

Bharatiya Janata Party, which believes in Hindutwa and Hindu nation, is holding its three-day national executive meeting from 7 to 9 June in Panaji.

On the other hand, Hindu Janjagarn Samiti is holding five-day national convention, from 6 to 10 June, at Ramnathi in Ponda.

While both have Hindu Rashtra on their agenda, it needs to be seen whether the BJP highlights its agenda of Hindu nation at the crucial meeting.

The Goa meet would be setting up an agenda for the whole year, till the Lok Sabha election is declared, as the national party aspires to come to power this time.

Unlike last time when it came to power with a slogan of Hindu Rashtra, the agenda of Hindu nation nowhere figures on its prime agenda for the meeting till date.

The BJP however is all set to promote Narendra Modi, who is looked upon as savior of Hindus in the country especially after Gujarat riots, as its prime ministerial candidate.

However, nowadays, he speaks more of good governance and corruption-free welfare state than the Hindu Rashtra.

The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, on the other hand, has several issues on its agenda, almost all related to the protection of Hindus in India and abroad.

While 360 leaders of Hindutwa party would be attending the political meet, around 250 delegates of HJS, belonging to 70 different Hindu organizations from 20 states would attend the Hindu convention.

Delegates from Nepal and Malaysia are also expected for the convention, said Ramesh Shinde, the HJS spokesperson.

It needs to be seen whether the HJS convention passes any resolution regarding Hindu Rashtra and in what manner the BJP reciprocates to it during its national conclave.
