Mickky surrenders before court, applies for bail

After being on a run for almost a month, former tourism minister Mickky Pacheco today morning surrendered before the District and Sessions court in Margao.

Simultaneously, he also applied for bail. After hearing his lawyer, the court is expected to deliver the judgment on it by today evening.

Mickky's series of anticipatory bail applications were earlier rejected by all the courts, including the Supreme Court.

Mickky, the Benaulim MLA and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, is wanted by Goa police in a case of suspicious suicidal death of his ‘girl friend' Nadia Torrado.

The crime branch of Goa police has charged him with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Meanwhile, Mickky's close aide and his former officer on special duty Lyndon Monteiro appeared before the crime branch today morning, for interrogation.

He has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court, on a condition that he co-operates with the police in investigation.

Prior to appearing before the police, Lyndon, in an exclusive interview to local TV channel Prudent, said he is confident that the Supreme Court would prove him innocent.

Lyndon also felt confident that voters in Benaulim would once again get Mickky elected, in spite of many others now vying for the seat, including PWD minister Churchill Alemao's daughter Valenka.

While Churchill belongs to the Congress, Mickky is the NCP leader. They have a pre-poll alliance.
