Ponda becomes a new hotspot of active Covid cases

Ponda appears to be the new Covid hotspot. Right now, the central town has the second highest number of active Covid cases. And in spite of hiding today’s active cases at each health centre as usual, Ponda has reported a huge rise of 61 cases in a day.
The rise in cases is also observed at 27 health centres out of total 33.
Also, though the Directorate of Health Services claims that 281 patients have recovered today, the comparative analysis does not cross the figure of 51 cured patients.

Cases have risen once again, after a decline to 457 yesterday. Goa reports 621 cases today, a rise of 164 more.
In spite of hiding today’s cases, 13 health centres have shown a rise to double digits, as shown in the table.
PONDA HIGHER THAN SALCETE?
Margao health centre however continues to top the list with 432 active Covid cases. But Ponda is now second in the list, having 358 active cases, only 74 less than Margao.
Ponda also has three more health centres: Shiroda 94 cases, Marcaim 66 and Betki 17. The total number of active Covid cases in Ponda taluka are 535.
Besides, Margao, Salcete taluka has four more centres: Loutolim 91, Navelim 87, Curtorim 67 and Chinchinim 39 cases. Means total 713 active cases.
But proportionately, in terms of population, the Ponda graph seems to be surpassing Salcete. In spite of having 36 percent population to Salcete, the cases found in Ponda taluka have reached 43 percent.
The third on the list is Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant’s Sankhli, having 298 active Covid cases, including the CM.
And fourth in the line is Porvorim, where lies the Goa Assembly as well as the Secretariat, the seats of power. This highly congested township has 296 active cases.
Both may cross 300 any moment.
The port town of Vasco, once the hotspot of Covid, stands at fifth rank now with 265 cases while the capital city of Panaji is the next, at 243.

Between 100 to 200 active cases are 13 centres of Pernem, Mapusa, Valpoi, Bicholim, Betki, Chimbel, Cortalim, Siolim, Aldona, Colvale, Corlim, Cansaulim and Dharbandora. (Refer the table for figures)
Between 39 to 94 active cases are 14 centres: Shiroda, Quepem, Loutolim, Canacona, Navelim, Curchorem, Cansarvarne, Mayem, Sanguem, Balli, Curtorim, Marcaim, Candolim and Chinchinim.
