Now Aires calls Rajeev a ‘Portuguese’, Calvert urges CM for CB probe

The WhatsApp war between two lawyers – Aires Rodrigues and Rajeev Gomes – is getting heated up with a fresh allegation of Aires calling Rajeev a Portuguese national.

Adv Rajeev has however denied the allegation while his client Calvert Gonsalves has urged Goa chief minister to transfer the case against Aires from Old Goa police to the crime branch.

Claiming to be a photocopy from the office of Portuguese Prime Minister, Aires has produced a document which shows name of Adv Rajeev Gomes as a Portuguese national.

“Noted criminal lawyer Rajeev Gomes should admit the proven Gospel Truth that he is a Portuguese National. Like every other accused, he should not feign ignorance and innocence”, states Aires in a WhatsApp post he has circulated along with the photocopy.

In reply, Adv Rajeev terms it as a figment of fertile imagination of Adv Aires.

“My birth was neither registered by me nor have I participated in any process to register the same. I am in the process of verifying the authenticity of the birth certificate produced by Mr Aires.  It won't take long to expose the manipulations and fabrication of Mr Aires Rodrigues”, states his post.

Adv Rajeev is a lawyer of Colva panch Calvert, who has filed a police complaint that Adv Aires is a Portuguese national, also holding Portuguese citizen card and his name in the Portuguese voters’ list.

Both Adv Aires and Adv Rajeev now claim that they are Indian nationals, while refuting the accusations.

Meanwhile, Calvert today asked Goa CM to transfer the police case registered at Old Goa police station to the crime branch of Goa police.

“The investigation into the said crime requires a detailed investigation, which will involve correspondence and enquiries with various departments throughout the state of Goa as well as in Portugal”, he states.
