UGDP may shut doors for Babush, will it open for Mickky?

United Goans Democratic Party may shut down its doors to Babush Monseratte, who was supposed to take over the party to face the forthcoming the Assembly election.

“We have no place for criminals and people involved in cases like rape’, says Dr Jorson Fernandes, president of UGDP.

Adv Anacleto Viegas, secretary general of the party, on the other hand has been opposing the move right from the beginning.

Perhaps it was Adv Radharao Gracias, supposedly close to Babush, had mooted the proposal since the Salcete-based party had lost its charm, having no financial backing.

Babush had accordingly announced that he would take over the UGDP with his own committee and candidates.

But after his arrest in a case involving him in a rape on a minor girl, UGDP now wants to play with a caution.

Viegas told goanews.com that the state presidium would meet on Friday to take a final call in this regard.

He also confirmed that Goa Vikas Party president and Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco has also approached the UGDP.

According to Dr Fernandes, the party has neither decided about Babush nor Mickky.

Viegas personally feels that the party should not go in wrong hands and definitely not the politicians having criminal background.

While Babush has once again been locked up with a more serious charge this  time, Mickky has also made rounds of police custodies and even the jails in the past, facing criminal charges.
