Verify background of Sanatan Sadhak at Ashram, demands anti-Sanatan meet

A meeting demanding ban on Sanatan Sanstha today asked Goa government to verify background of seekers of Sanatan Sanstha staying at Sanatan Ashram at Bandora, on the lines of the information of tenants sought by the police.
The meeting, held without microphone, was organised by Ramnath Yuva Sangh, hardly 200 metres away from Sanatan Ashram, with police protecting the Sanatan headquarters.
Ponda deputy collector Johnson Fernandes told the organisers to disconnect the public address system while it was attended by around 100 people.
Saurabh Lotlikar, along with his mother and sole panch of Bandora Sharmila Lotlikar, alleged that local MLA and minister Sudin Dhawalikar had restrained the locals from attending the meeting.
Though announced earlier, BJP MLA Vishnu Wagh did not turn up for the meeting while Congress MLA Alex Reginald Lourenco left before the delayed meeting could start.
Veteran writers like Nagesh Karmali and Pundalik Naik, whose names were announced earlier, also did not turn up.
Social activist Ramesh Gawas said the headquarters of Sanatan is not an Ashram but a palacious building like a five star hotel. He wondered why the seekers needed condoms in the Ashram if it is a place for spiritual activity.
He also challenged Dr Jayant Athawale to come clear on the rules and Constitution of Sanatan Sanstha while alleging that neither Sanatan believes in Constitution of India nor it trusts the police force.
“That is the reason they are building its own army, which is unconstitutional”, he said.
He also asked why Athawale, who claims to be 12th incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was using suffix of Dr in front of his name and alleged that he was fooling the people in the name of spiritualism.
Gawas also condemned the action of government to give permission to National Hindu Movement to hold a meeting supporting Sanatan while denying permission to hold public meeting opposing Sanatan.
“Does the government consider us, who are fighting terrorists like Sanatan, are the terrorists”, he asked.
Tribal leader Govind Gaude, referring to killings of Dr Narendra Dabholkar, Govind Pansare and M M Kalburgi, said nobody can kill their thoughts, but condemned the killings.
In fact Goa’s chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar should probe into the activities of Sanatan going on at its headquarters when Maharashtra police have arrested the Sanatan Sadhak in Pansare murder case, he said.
“We don’t need extremist organisations like Sanatan to teach us what Hinduism is. We have enough knowledge of it and also know what Hindu in reality means”, he said.
Trade union leader Com Christopher Fonseca came down heavily on Sanatan, terming the anti-constitutional organisation, which is creating hatred among people towards other communities and destabilising country’s harmony.
“People with animal instinct need not tell us what to eat and what to wear. We are capable enough to take care of our rich culture and tradition”, he said, criticising Sanatan for its role of so called moral policing.
