Sudin invites Cong MLA Babu to join MGP, decide by Nov
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 10 October 2016 23:16 ISTMaharashtrawadi Gomantak Party leader Sudin Dhawalikar has put to rest all the speculation by inviting Congress MLA Babu Kavalekar to join his party to contest next Assembly election.
Babu however has not reacted to this appeal so far.
Sudin spoke to the media today in Khola, the village of Canacona taluka falling in is Quepem constituency, after laying foundation stone for a pipeline.
He has also suggested him not to hurry but decide about it by November.
Babu escaped journalists and drove away without commenting on it.
Rumours were making round that Quepem MLA Babu Kavalekar would follow the footsteps of his Congress colleague Pandurang Madkaikar and contest election on the MGP ticket.
While criticising Congress leadership for its non-performance, Madkaikar had claimed that there are many more who want to quit the Congress and join the MGP.
“We are fed up of sitting in the opposition”, he had said.
The power-hungry politicians are gathering around the MGP because Dhawalikar has been in power for the last 10 years, during Congress as well as BJP regime, in spite of having hardly 2 to 3 MLAs in the 40-member House.
