Goa eagerly awaits for the day with no Covid death, two in the 30s die this week
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 13 November 2020 19:54 ISTGoa continues to report Covid deaths every day in spite of cases getting declined. In fact, yesterday reported the youngest death of this month, a 29-year old boy from Pernem.
The month of November, till the 12th, has reported 50 deaths while the total toll since 22nd June has reached 658.
Since there was no mortality bulletin issued yesterday by GMC, an impression got created that finally, the day has arrived when there is no Covid death.
But in reality, as per today’s bulletin, two people lost their lives yesterday, an 84-year old male from Mapusa at 3 pm and the 29-year old at 1.52 pm, both at GMC hospital.
In fact, he died within one hour 14 minutes after bringing to GMC hospital. He was suffering from ALD, related to a fatty acid.
Also, another 34-year old boy from Assnora succumbed to Covid this week, on Tuesday. He was suffering from alcohol dependence syndrome.
Like yesterday, even today’s mortality bulletin has not reported a single death that occurred today. But since mortality bulletins are prepared in the afternoon, we will have to wait till tomorrow. Sometimes deaths are reported even two or three days later.
With the Covid cases started declining drastically, Goa is also eagerly awaiting for no-Covid-death-day.
Right now, the average death rate this month is at four deaths per day, which was also seen in August. The highest death rate of eight deaths per day in October had declined to six deaths per day last month.
