‘Little Police’ to manage Goa’s school traffic from 2016

The New Year 2016 will see around 1200 school students managing Goa’s traffic in the towns, as Little Traffic Police, especially during school hours.

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar made this announcement on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day function held at Campal today morning.

After taking guard of honour, Parsekar said the students are already being trained and the service would be launched when the schools reopen after Christmas holiday.

“The Little Traffic Police will help our traffic personnel when parents come to leave the students and then come to collect them”, he said.

This is replication of a concept floated by freedom fighter Gurunath Kelekar’s MARG and successfully implemented in Margao few years ago.

The CM also made few other major announcements as follows:

Goa government will set up a Common Staff Selection Commission, which will recruit government staff for all the departments once in a year by selecting around 800 to 1000 candidates and posting them in different departments.

Altogether 100 licences would be issued for sand extraction in next days, out of which 14 are already issued.

Government will bring a bill legalising illegal houses, as assured before, in  the next Assembly session.

The crucial Time-bound delivery of services Act would be implemented after 293 more departments of the government administration are included while 497 are already being notified.

Those applying for sel-employment under CM’s Rojgar Yojana would now get 25 per cent subsidy.

39 agricultural projects would be floated shortly under National Krishi Mission, for which central government has sanctioned Rs 43.50 crore that would benefit around 2000 farmers.

People of Mayem would get ownership of their land by 2016.
