Goa's 12 veterans honoured with Cultural Awards
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 15 July 2015 12:58 ISTGoa’s 12 veteran artists and writers have been honoured by the state government by conferring upon them the most prestigious Goa State Cultural Awards.
They have been for their contribution and achievements in their respective art forms like Music, Drama/Tiatr, Folk Art, Bhajan, Kirtan, Craft, Literature, Painting etc.
Similarly, the Goa Cultural and Social Centre of Panaji has been honoured with the Best Cultural Institution.
The awards are for the year 2014-15.
The awardees are as follows:
Avdhut Kamat, (Theatre-Drama), Ponda
Ujwala Tarcar (Theatre-Drama) Tiswadi
Dr. Pradeep Borkar (Theatre-Drama) Mormugao
Joe Rose (Theatre-Tiatr) Bardez
Rita Rose (Theatre-Tiatr) Bardez
Dililp Borkar (Literature) Tiswadi
Gurunath V. Naik (Literature) Tiswadi
Rajendra Singbal (Indian Music) Bardez
Leopoldina Figueiredo (Western Music)
Radhakrishna V. Shetye (Bhajan) Mormugao
Shiva A. Tamankar (Bhajan) Bardez
Maendra Alvares (Fine Art/ Craft) Salcete
The awards comprises of a cash purse of Rs. 50,000 each, a certificate, shrifal , Nataraj Replica and a shawl.
The Best Cultural Institution award consists of a cash pruse of Rs 1 lakh and a memento.
These awardees have set an example to the youth of Goa and are encouraging them by dedicating their life for promotion and preservation of Arts and Culture of the State.
