No recipe called Hollywood-Bollywood: Cannes Director

Christian Juene, Cannes director of film department, believes that Indian cinema should remain true to its base as there is no recipe called Hollyood-Bollywood collaborations.

"There is no recipe; I have always felt that film speaks a universal language when it remains truthful to where it comes from. Whenever you try to do a crossover film it never works. I am happy that the opportunities are opening up and Indian actors are fantastic but it depends on the script," Juene told PTI.

He is here to attend the NFDC Film Bazaar and 43rd International Film Festival of India.

"This is my 17th trip to India. It's a very big industry and personally I love coming to India. We are looking for Indian films. Film bazaar has gained so much attraction from all the professionals over the world and it the festival of India so it's important," he added.

Juene also announced plans to invite a large delegation from the Indian film industry to Cannes to celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema.

"I have been attending IFFI for past 4-5 years and it gives me immense pleasure to invite India as the guest country. The Festival de Cannes is delighted to celebrate one of the most important countries in the world of cinema, a country with a prestigious history and tradition, one whose current day and creative impulses are a perennial example of vitality," he said.

India will be the third 'Guest Country' at Cannes following Egypt in 2011 and Brazil in 2012.
