Hawai and Goa to be ‘sisters’ to collaborate from trade to yoga

Beach states of Hawai in USA and Goa in India would become sister states shortly, collaborating with each other.
The Goa cabinet today approved the proposal mooted by Tulsi Gabbard, member of US Congress couple of years ago.
With Art and Culture department appointed as a nodal agency, a Memorandum of Understanding would be signed shortly for sister-state relationship.
Both the sister states would collaborate in the fields of trade, tourism, sports, pharma, yoga, ayurveda and Hawaiian products, wellness techniques and academics.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, while announcing this at today’s cabinet briefing, also informed that the Ministry of External Affairs of Government of India has also vetted the proposal.
Hawai, made of six islands, has a population of 1.42 million against Goa’s 1.5 million.
While Goa got liberated on 19th December 1961, Hawai was incorporated as a state of USA on 21st August 1959.
