FTII protesters bailed out, DFF cancels delegate card of another

While two protesting ex-students of FTII were released by the court today, the organisers of IFFI cancelled delegate card of yet another FTII student.

The police had yesterday arrested two ex-students of Film Training Institute of India when they shouted slogans almost at the fag end of IFFI inaugural ceremony.

Kislay Gonzalvez and Subham, who displayed posters of protest from the empty block of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium, the police had slapped them with serious offences.

The charges levied against them included assault on police personnel while taking them out, trespassing into the stadium unauthorisedly and criminal conspiracy.

Agacaim police today morning produced them before the Panaji JMFC court.

They were released by the court, but on a condition of producing their passports within two days, said Panaji DySP Serafin Dias.

Meanwhile, the police today morning apprehended Ashutosh Vandana, another FTII student roaming in the IFFI campus, wearing FTII tee shirt.

When the police on duty produced him before the organisers for verification, the Director of Film Festivals authorities cancelled his delegate card, issued to him earlier officially.

Ashutosh has been now told not to enter any IFFI venue.

The FTII students had been striking for almost 139 days since 12 June, protesting against the political appointment of Gajendra Chauhan as the institute's director.

The strike was called off on 29 October, stating that their protests would continue.
