Rahul Gandhi has stunned Goans with his announcement that appears impossible considering the background of the Congress.
“If Congress is brought back to power in Goa, I assure you to take action in two minutes against corrupt politicians”, he told the crowd that had gathered in thousands at Fatorda today.

Gandhi made this statement during his thundering speech at a Congress rally held as a culmination of the 14-day Jan Jagruti Padyatra that covered 34 constituencies.
After coming to power with a thumping majority in 1980, the Goan voter had punished the Congress with a humiliating defeat in 2012 with mere 9 seats in the 40-member House.
During the five years when Congress hardly performed as an impressive opposition, the Congress expelled Babush Monseratte from the party while two more MLAs – Mauvin Godinho and Pandurang Madkaikar are already in the BJP camp.
While former Congress chief minister Digambar Kamat has been chargesheeted in a multi-crore Louis Berger bribery case, former PWD minister Churchill Alemao was jailed in the same case.
In this background, the young Turks of the Congress are demanding to reject all the old blackmailers and give tickets to fresh faces.
It needs to be seen whether Rahul Gandhi sticks to his public assurance of today while selecting his candidates at the forthcoming Assembly election.
In his speech, Rahul came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling his war against the black money a big hoax.
While stating that 50 Indian families are holding 60 per cent of the country’s wealth, he alleged that the same families fly with Modi to the countries like USA, Australia etc and sign the business deals.
He asked why Modi is not placing the records of Swiss bank account holders in the Parliament and act against them if he is so much determined to catch the black money holders.
He also asked why Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya are not brought to India but allowed to live lavish life in London when they have looted the Indians.
He also assured that Congress will support Modi if his government takes even a smallest step against corruption.
