Highlights of Budget 2012-13

 

Following are the budget highlights made available by goanews, soon after it was read out in the Assembly by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. The highlights thus also mention the time at which it was uploaded.

TAX STRUCTURE

» Infrastructure tax enhanced to Rs.150/- per square metre for residential and industrial buildings and Rs.350/- per square for commercial building.

» Fees of Rs. 250/- to Rs. 500/- for handling mineral dumps.

» Goods tax on Barges to be enhanced at 50 paise per tone to Rs. 1 per tone. Barge tax to be enhanced to Rs.100 per tone and Rs.200 per tone based on capacity.

» Appeals against Income Tax awards to High Court shall be levied with fee of 2 percent of the appeal amount.

» Transfer of shares to be taxed at 0.05 percent. Fees and fines on services of Police Department to be doubled.

» Registration fees enhanced. Equitable mortgages on title deeds will have a registration fees of 0.1 percent of alone value.

» Diesel quota increased from 16 KL to 20KL with 100% VAT refund to trawler operators. Promise of providing Rs.50,000/- balance for those who lost lives or missing in cyclone Phyan to be honoured.

» Better facilities for traditional fishermen by constructing ramps, slipways, net mending sheds and temporary storage facilities. Encourage fresh water fish farming including fishing activity in ponds, lakes and reservoirs.

This is a very good budget , hope its implemented ASAP, Besides this I would also like to add another suggestion i.e. All the Five star Hotels should Implement 9 hours working to their employees and at least set a percentage of staff hired from the state rather than hiring outsiders.
