Parrikar cabinet to be sworn in on 9 March at Campal

Manohar Parrikar will be sworn in as the chief minister of 12th Assembly on Friday, 9 March of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government.

Though for the third time, Parrikar would be the chief minister for the first time, having absolute majority of his own party MLAs.

In spite of having 21 MLAs of the BJP in the 40-member House, Parrikar today staked claim to form the government along with three-member Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and two independents – Avertano Furtado and Benjamin Silva.

A letter signed by 26 MLAs-elect was submitted to Governor K Narayanan.

The swearing in ceremony is being planned at the Campal grounds in Panaji and not at Raj Bhavan, at 5.30 pm.

Parrikar was accompanied by central BJP leaders – Venkaiah Naidu, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Aarti Mehra to meet the governor.

Though Parrikar declined to disclose, he is expected to be sworn in with a team of around seven ministers.

Both Dhawalikar brothers – Sudin and Dipak – from the MGP are likely to be sworn in.

The rest five are likely to be senior BJP legislators – Francis D’Souza, Matanhy Saldhana, Laxmikant Parsekar, Rajendra Arlekar and Dayanand Mandrekar.

The second phase of swearing in may take place after the budget is presented in the Assembly.

“My first priority would be to present the budget and get the Lokayukta constituted”, he told the media persons at the Raj Bhavan.

He has thus requested the governor to expedite and get the consent of the President of India to the Lokayukta bill passed by the Assembly.

Earlier in the day, Parrikar was formally elected the legislator party leader in the presence of the central leaders.

They also met three MGP men and two independents.

Meanwhile, Mickky Pacheco’s Goa Vikas Party has rendered unconditional support to the new government.

Hope Mr. Parrikar also takes up the case of alleged Land Conversion Scam involving 24.7 crore as indicted in IT report. This will help to push the remaining corrupt elements if any, out of the Goa Polical System.

and icing on the cake - Micky Mouse Pachelo "I have a very good rapport with Mr Parrikar and that will never keep me in the opposition "
