Goa Dakshinayan: Debate among Galaxy of intellectuals

Goa next month will kick off a national movement of intellectuals, who are gathering to debate upon several burning concerns, following killings of Dr Narendra Dabholkar, Com Govind Pansare and Prof K S Kalburgi.

In fact a three-day conclave, from 18th to 20th November, would be attended by Hamid Dabholkar, Medha Pansare and Shrivijay Kalburgi, who will address the masses at the historic Lohia Maidan in Margao.

It would begin with Sankalp Yatra, said President of Dakshinayan Datta D Naik, which would begin on 18th November at 4 pm from Ravindra Bhavan, to be culminated into a public rally at Lohia Maidan at 6 pm.

It would also be addressed by Atamjit Singh, K Sadchidanand, Dhanaji Gurav, Uttam Parmar, K. Neela, Manan Kumar Mandal and Goa’s Prashant Naik.

“Dakshinayan is a movement that has sprung up through a collective desire to forge a new solidarity between all progressive forces. It is a struggle for the freedom of creative expression that foregrounds tolerance and dialogue”, said Naik.

Damodar Mauzo, Goa’s eminent writer added that it is an attempt to deepen rational thinking as being pivotal to society that is genuinely equal, just and respectful of diversity.

“Dakshinayan is the long awaited initiative to go beyond caste, class, creed, gender, language, form and genre, to cross borders between identities to nurture imagination without narrow borders and to celebrate the voice that frees the mind from limits imposed by ideologies, credos, partisan institutions and movements”, said Maulana Ibrahim.

This Convention is expected to be attended by over 900 delegates, out of which 600 would be from different parts of India, besides 300 Goans.
