Young writers should continue exposing evils in the society: Parsekar

 

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar appealed to the young writers to continue writing fearlessly by exposing the evils of society and help the human society advance.

He also appealed to the writers to practice the moral values in their personal lives, which they preach through their literature.

After inaugurating the 30th session of the All India Konkani Parishad in Panaji today, Parsekar also assured that his government would keep taking constructive steps to implement Konkani in the administration and help the efforts financially.

While expressing satisfaction that over 100 people have come from Kerala for the Parishad in Goa, he said we Goans should be proud that Konkani person has shown his or her capability in various fields wherever he spread out in India or abroad.

Parishad president Gokuldas Prabhu admitted that Konkani is still lagging behind compared to other developed Indian languages and Parishad needs to take firm steps in this regard.

On the occasion, Sahitya Academy award winners were felicitated at the hands of Chief Minister Parsekar.

They included Uday Bhembre (original creation), Pandurang Gaude (translation), Ramnath Gaude (children’s literature) and Shrinisha Naik (youth literature).

Akshay Naik and group presented a welcome song, written by poet Prakash Naik.

The Parishad on this occasion released a collection of presidential speeches of Parishad as well as Lekhak Sammelan, edited by Jayanti Naik.

Books written by Ramesh Veluskar, Jaimala Danayat, Nayana Adarkar, John Aguiar, Rekha Naik, Milind Kakodkar, Siddhesh Kundaikar, Sushila Halarnkar, Dipa Murkunde and Rajani Bhembre were also released at the inaugural ceremony.

Earlier, reception committee chairman Shantaram Varde Walaulikar welcomed the gathering. He said the issue of script may simply wither away with the advancement in the technology.

Parishad secretary Sunita Kanekar proposed a vote of thanks.
