After long, journos enjoyed a PC, of strange bedfellows…
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 12 March 2016 23:27 ISTIt was different than a routine press conference for all the media persons today.
Perhaps this is the reason the small hall of Salida de Sol was overcrowded and journalists had to stand on their feet for want of chairs.
A joint press conference by three independents – Vijai Sardesai, Rohan Khaunte and Naresh Sawal – sometimes with Congress legislator Alex Reginald Lourenco was nothing special.
But joining them were former CM Digambar Kamat, his party colleague Vishwajeet Rane and the expelled colleague Babush Monseratte.
A combination which was neither seen together in the last four years nor seen united even in the Assembly, except on rare occasions.
The media persons were intimated wrongly that the PC was at 4 pm, while they came to know that it’s half an hour later.
Normally, such confusions irritate journalists and some of them even walk out in protest. But none of the news-hungry journalist was irritated.
They waited, patiently, even for Digambar Kamat to arrive but never turned up.
But still there was news, for which they heard once again patiently all the six legislators, who spoke the same routine stuff of the BJP government is a fraud, looted the state, financial liability, coconut is our identity and what not.
And then started the bombarding about the odd combination, raising issues about Grand Alliance, Babush joining hands with the Congress whom he called B Team of the BJP few days ago etc etc.
In fact journalists were reminding these politicians how they had criticised each other on different occasions in the past and the legislators were laughing it out, saying nobody is a permanent enemy in politics.
And the best scene was after the noisy press conference when the TV channels started catching each MLA separately to get their concise bites, so that it could be made into a comprehensive news clip.
Interrupting them were the print media journalists, who were trying to get more explanations from them, keeping the TV men waiting in a queue.
Some of them caught some MLAs in corridors and even on the staircases.
It was much different from the routine for every journalist, who was telling each other: This is what was missing. Strange bedfellows coming together and making politics interesting.
Yes, now we can say, elections are round the corner…
NEXUS OF EVIL JUST TO GET POWER BY HOOK OR CROOK.
