New regional party on 25 Jan; fresh faces with no ‘candidates’ on State Com

A new regional party will be announced on the eve of Republic Day with a state executive council consisting of all fresh faces that will spell out key points of its broad-based programme to take Goa Forward.

Prabhakar Timble, the former state election commission and eminent educationist, has come forth as the first leading face of the regional party, while talking to goanews.com.

Three independent MLAs – Vijai Sardesai, Rohan Khaunte and Naresh Sawal – will join the party only after their term gets over to avoid the axe of anti-defection act.

“A new born baby would fast forward into adulthood with its presence felt in a couple of constituencies by moving into action”, said Timble, who has reportedly worked on shaping up the party organisation.

None of the state executive council members would include the aspiring candidates for the forthcoming Assembly election, he said, which is hardly a year ahead.

He also said the announcement, planned on 25 January, would clear the myth that the party would primarily be Salcete-based or limited to South Goa.

People will realise the state-wide canvass of the party once we announce our state council, consisting of around a dozen veterans from different walks of life, he claimed.

He however declined to disclose the name of the party which, he said, will take Goa Forward.

WHO ARE THEY?

“Not only people active in politics but also leading activists from tribal and OBC communities and other social strata will be heading the all-inclusive party”, says Timble.

The former state election commission also discloses that they have met several political leaders also from the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, besides other political outfits.

He claims that the disillusionment is across the board against the BJP-led government while Congress has gone into sleep mode.

According to him, people are agitated due to arrogant and aggressive attitude of the present coalition government, which puts down every dissent while bulldozing its programme for the benefit of crony capitalists.

“Our party will provide an alternative to all such genuine workers with a concrete programme to save Goa from unhealthy lobbies and opaque governance”, said Timble, also a media columnist.

STEP BY STEP

The party, on 25 January, will only announce its state executive council, the key points that would make difference for Goa and the status of the party with the Election Commission of India, said Timble.

While moving into action immediately, the senior founder member said the structure would be built step by step.

The constituency committees would be constituted within a month while several other committees for different areas would also be announced within a couple of months.

“We have consciously decided to keep the party’s organisational wing separate from the aspiring candidates and publicly elected people”, said Timble.
