Leaving community living and camping in peaceful forest was a common feature in ancient days. But in today’s modern world, it becomes a mystery when 10 families suddenly lock up their houses and start living in a Farm House, away from the society.

Thus the news reports floating with all kind of stories when around 44 persons, from elders to children, leave the village and start living in a Farm House.

The incident was brought to the notice of the Quepem police by a local priest in November that 10 families from Xeldem village in Quepem taluka have suddenly migrated to an interior village of Kolamb, the village after Rivona.

Though they belong to Christian tribe, all the families are quite wealthy and their sons work abroad, says Pravin Gawas, the Quepem Police Inspector.

People in the village became more curious when all the 10 families did not return even to celebrate Christmas.

The Quepem police wrote to the Quepem deputy collector in November about the happening, but there was no response.

As it became a news today in local dailies, the police once again visited Joshi’s Farm House at Shivsurem in Kolamb, where these families are living by erecting tents – one each for the 10 families.

Joshi’s farm house is a friend of one of the family members, who is a junior electrical engineer.

As PI Gawas said, the junior engineer attends his duty and comes back to the Farm House every day.

But why have they migrated even depriving their children the school studies?

“They told us they want peace of mind to pray”, PI Gawas told goanews.com.

According to him, the parents have decided to continue studies of their children from next year.

The PI also made it clear that no authority can object to such an act since it has been done willingly and there is nothing criminal about it.

However, lots of stories are making round in the village about this sudden migration.

While some people say they have been living in a deep forest, another story is making rounds that the families have migrated on a hill top fearing that a tsunami will come soon to end the World.

But PI Gawas, after visiting the families once again today, clarifies that they are living in a Farm House adjoining a village and not in a deep forest on a hill top.
