Panaji civic poll polling & result on same day
GOANEWS & PTI, PANAJI | 04 February 2011 20:09 ISTGoa State Election Commission would declare the results of elections for the civic poll in Panaji scheduled for March 13, on the same day.
The election for 30-wards would be held through electronic voting machines (EVMs) and will be monitored online by senior poll officials.
Modassir said arrangements have been made to hold counting on the same day and all the results would be out within an hour.
CCP, a civic body managing affairs of capital city of Panaji and its neighbourhood, has 32090 voters.
This election, indirectly, would also decide the fate of four-time Panaji MLA and opposition leader Manohar Parrikar.
Education minister Babush Monseratte has entered the fray by declaring 'his' panel (not Congress) while announcing that he would contest next Assembly election from Panaji.
He reportedly plans to field his wife Jinnifer from Taleigao, present Assembly constituency of Babush.
Parrikar, as the BJP, has fielded a panel with former mayor Ashok Naik as its leader. Naik, among all, has the cleanest record as the mayor of the sole corporation in the state.
What is the Goa Election Commission and Media Doing?
I am a resident of Althino. Since CCP election are due the dewelling houses in Althino have been lured by Babush by distributing LCDs, refrigerators, washing machines ect to play vote bank politics. Why is the media and election commission gone a blind eye towards these undemocratic activities. I have also heard the the same politian is going to distribute the election goodies to the Police quartes residents to lure them for votes. If some responsible person is reading my comment than please raise a voice against this and let this election be truely Democratic.
This is normal for them. if BJP indulges in this things then it is crime which be reported and acted upon.
