Competing populsim v/s budgeting ethics

 

Vulnerable sections and economically backward classes have to be helped. That is part of the social justice plank of our constitution. But the limits to which parties resort to in competing at populist measures is a matter of serious concern. READ

Don't scrap entire RP; denotify in part, if need be

 

Preparing fresh plan and finalizing it in limited areas does not require scrapping of the entire plan but denotification of the plan in part for that area which requires to be rectified or corrected. Part denotification is possible and permissible. There is no need to tinker with the entire plan. READ

The fury of the electorate

 

There is no doubt that the Church played a role. In fact political observers who always condemned the Church for taking a pro-Congress stand have started praising the role played by the Church and the clergy. However the fact of the matter is that the Church has only followed the feelings of the electorate and accelerated the way. READ

Demand to scrap Regional Plan is irrational

 

The Regional Plan 2021 that came into being keeping in mind the mood of the society against the destruction of the village landscape, if scrapped, will automatically bring into force the old Regional Plan 2001, where the FAR is 80. Also the areas marked as eco-sensitive zones to the extent of 62.38% for the four talukas shall no longer be in force. In whose interest shall that work is anybody’s guess. READ

Full marks for Regional Plan

 

Had the pioneers shown little flexibility over the consultation process three years back, the eco sensitive zones could have been saved from destruction three years back. But then it requires courage of conviction to give credit to the government which is otherwise seen as not credible due to falling standards of governance. Better late then never!!READ
