We aren’t hiding Covid cases: Vishwajit; 63% hidden today

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has denied the charge that his department is hiding Covid cases. But one example of Ponda taluka in today’s Covid bulletin is enough proof that the faulty system of providing figures resulting into cases remains hidden.
With 344 active cases, Ponda continues to be in the second position after 432 cases at Margao health centre. But now, the central taluka is also second in the number of Covid deaths. In the last 11 days of September, Salcete has lost 20 lives and 13 in Ponda.
But the mystery continues about actual active cases at each health centre. The comparative analysis of two days shows that the highest number of 44 patients are recovered in Ponda. 91 new cases were found at Ponda centre from 8th to 10th September: 297 to 388. On 1st September, Ponda had 300 active cases.
Even before the 14-day recovery period is completed, the number at Ponda centre has now come down to 344, showing a decline of 44 to the previous day. It cannot be ascertained if more fresh positive cases are hidden in these figures because DHS simply refuses to provide two additional columns, today’s fresh cases and today’s cured cases at the 33 health centres.
Among 555 fresh active cases today, comparative analysis by goanews.com could locate only 207 cases at 15 centres. Vishwajit Rane’s health department is not telling us where the rest 348 cases are found.

Similarly, the Covid bulletin states that 473 cases are cured. But the analysis could locate only 127 cases at 16 centres. No idea where the rest 346 are cured, though it is a good sign that the rate of recovery is pretty good.
Goa till date has recorded 23,455 Covid cases. Out of this, 18,065 cases have recovered. It means 77 percent Covid patients have recovered. And only 276 people have succumbed to the deadly virus. Hardly 1.18 per cent.
DEATHS: SALCETE TOPS, PONDA SECOND
With 81 deaths in the last 11 days, deaths have occurred in nine out of 12 talukas thiis month. Salcete 20 (total 71), Ponda 13 (29), Tiswadi 12 (40), Bardez 12 (29), Mormugao 10 (67), Bicholim 7 (14), Pedne 4 (7), Quepem 2 (6) and Sanguem 1 (5).
Covid deaths have started hitting new areas in Goa.
It includes new areas like Arambol in Pedne, Assagao, Parra & Penha da France in Bardez, Chorao, Siridao & Merces in Tiswadi, Curti, Khandola & Nageshi in Ponda, Davorlim, Sao Jose de Areal, Nuvem and Velim in Salcete, Verna in Mormugao and Sanvordem in Sanguem.
Fortunately, no deaths were reported this month in the talukas of Canacona and Sattari (2 each till date) as well as Dharbandora on (1 on 24th August).
