FORCE to tell parents whom to vote, pressurise MLAs, on MoI issue

FORCE has decided to take school children to all the 40 MLAs and also tell the people whom to vote and whom not to in the forthcoming Assembly election.

The general body meetings of the Forum for the Right of Children’s Education (FORCE) held in Panaji and Margao in the last two days have worked out a counter-strategy to pressurise the BJP-led government to pass the bill giving grants to English medium primary schools.

The Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch has already decided to make MoI an election issue by pressuring the government against passing of the Goa School Education Amendment Bill.

The bill primarily proposes to make minority institutions an exception in order to give salary grants to their schools running in English medium at primary level.

FORCE leader Savio Lopes told goanews.com that the parents have decided to take morchas to all the MLAs, along with school children, to pressurise them to pass the bill in the March Assembly session.

Dates of the morchas would be announced later, he said.

The meetings also condemned the group of MLAs, which had given written assurance to the FORCE as well as addressed the parents at Azad Maidan in Panaji to pass the bill in the winter Assembly session, which concluded early this month without passing the bill.

Lopes had gone on fast-unto-death in July last year at Azad Maidan while the parents had blocked all the national highways at various places in Goa, to pressurise the government.

“Some of the MLAs had even assured us to go on hunger strike or resign if the bill is not passed in the winter session. Now they deny giving any such assurance. We will expose them at a right time”, warned Lopes.

Though FORCE is not a political body or our members are not politicians, he said, the FORCE has also decided to sensitise the parents on whom to vote and whom not to, depending upon what response they get from the legislators.

Stating that some politicians are misguiding the parents that FORCE is demanding to make English the official language of Goa, Lopes said they would also educate the parents that their sole demand is to pass the bill of giving grants to the English medium primary schools.

This Government has no right to decide what they want, Its the right of every parent to decide what they want for their kids.

This government is only specialized in U Turns and making a mockery of every issue concerning Goans.
