News Analysed, Opinions Expressed

Why only Radha? The real 'Sham' is hiding Rs 1 Lakh Crore. Catch them!

Why only one Radha Timblo? Catch real big mine owners of Goa for black money & recover over ONE LAKH CRORE of Rupees!

It’s Rs 1,00,000,000,0000.

12 zeroes in front of 1. Much much bigger than Maha Karodpati!

Dr Claude Alvares has posed this question publicly.

His Goa Foundation has literally waged a war against illegal mining and the mine owners involved in all kind of illegalities.

Narendra Modi government’s Enforcement Directorate has issued notices to almost 16 companies in Goa. But, presently, only Radha Timblo, one mine owner is being targeted.

After raiding her establishments all over the state, she and her other directors have been frequently quizzed by the ED.

“Looks like the ED people are selective. Why are they not targeting other big fries?” Dr Claude has a straight question.

He is now planning to write to Justice M B Shah, who is probing the black money cases. Incidentally, Justice Shah’s report was instrumental in banning mining activity in Goa.

Dr Claude is quite clear about it. He is not defending Radha Timblo. But, he feels, all the big mine owners have parked their black money abroad. Why are they left scot free?

On the contrary, their leases are being renewed by Goa Government, which still runs with a remote control of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Justice Shah predicts the illegality in iron ore mining to the tune of Rs 35,000 crore.

But Dr Claude triples the amount. It’s over one lakh crore, he claims.

To be precise, it’s 1,18,661 crore.

His calculation is simple. In five years, from 2007 to 2012, iron ore exported was of Rs 65,058 crore. He adds simple interest of RS 53,603 crore to it. The total is Rs 1,18,661.

On what grounds? Because Justice Shah Commission has proved that this whole mining activity of five long years was completely illegal. The Supreme Court has endorsed it.

“Recover this amount from all these big miners”, demands Claude, “since this was illegal export.”

And an interesting fact he brings to the notice. This amount is ten times the annual budget of Goa.

It means Goa can be run without taxing the common man.

In fact, his Goa Foundation even met Comptroller and Auditor General of India, asking a simple question: Why the iron ore exports from 2007 to 2012 are not being audited till date?

Their lies the bone of contention!
