“Don’t fool us”: FORCE; “It’s Parsekari Tiatr”: BBSM
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 13 July 2016 21:56 ISTBBSM as well as FORCE are unanimous on one issue. Both the rival organisations fighting against each other have opposed the Bhaskar Nayak committee constituted by the government.
“It’s nothing but delay tactics”, feel leaders of both the organisations.
BBSM has in fact gone a step ahead, calling the committee illegal.
After holding its meeting for the North Goa parents, FORCE secretary Savio Lopes said they are outrightly rejecting the new committee formed to decide the issue of continuing grants to Church-run English primary schools.
“As assured, we want the government to pass the amendment bill in the Assembly, giving legislative sanctity to the decision of continuing grants to 137 primary schools run by the Diocesan Board of Education”, said Lopes.
If not, he reiterated that FORCE will work against the BJP as well as those parties which demand withdrawal of grants.
“Whom are you fooling by forming yet another committee? Come clean on your decision or we will show you what we are in the next election”, warned Lopes.
Adv Uday Bhembre, the BBSM leader, termed it as Parsekari Tiatr, the second part of the BJP drama started by defence minister Manohar Parrikar when he was the CM.
According to him, the government had no right to form a committee to decide on the issue of grants under section 29(2) of the Goa Right of Children Freed and Compulsory Education Rules 2012.
The 17-member committee under the chairmanship of Principal Bhaskar Nayak has been constituted under these rules framed under RTE Act 2009.
“All the decisions, by Congress CM Digambar Kamat, BJP CM Manohar Parrikar and Laxmikant Parsekar, were taken by the cabinets. The cabinet should change it by withdrawing the grants”, said Bhembre.
According to him, the committee is nothing but a time-killing exercise as the sword of getting defeated in the next election is hanging on the BJP’s head.
The BBSM has already threatened to defeat the BJP in the forthcoming Assembly election if grants to Church-run English primary schools are not withdrawn.
The committee is expected to submit its report in 120 days (4 months) while the Assembly election is around six months ahead.
