Goa University ranks 20 among first 100 in India, 100% in GO
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 04 April 2016 22:25 ISTGoa University received a major boost this year with Government of India ranking it at 20 among the first 100 universities chosen from all over the country.
Incidentally, University of Mumbai, to which Goan colleges were affiliated till 1985, figures nowhere in the list.
Goa College of Pharmacy has also ranked at 23 among the 50 pharmacy colleges of the country with a score of 54.46.
National Institute of Technology at Farmagudi also ranks, but at 76, with a score of 53.65.
No management college of Goa figures anywhere in the ranking.
Ranking methods have been worked out for 6 categories of institutions: Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Architecture, Universities and Colleges.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has been approved by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development.
100% in Graduation Outcomes
The parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
Goa University has scored 100% in Graduation Outcome. The other grades are TLR 63.29%, RPC 70.81%, OI 74.61% and Perception 64%.
While IIT Bangalore has topped the list with a score of 91.81, Goa University scores 69.90.
Chettinad Academy of Research And Education (Care) of Chennai, ranked at 100, has scored 47.05.
Institute Of Chemical Technology at Mumbai; Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi; University Of Hyderabad; Tezpur University in Assam, University Of Delhi; Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, Indian Institute Of Space Science And Technology at Thiruvananthapuram; BITS Pilani in Rajasthan and Aligarh Muslim University are among the top 10.
The ranking framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country.
The methodology draws from the overall recommendations and broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions.
Although the Ranking Frameworks are similar, the exact methodologies are domain specific.
