IPB clears 4 five-star hotels in Bardez, a mega-mall in Porvorim

Focussing on the hospitality industry, the Investment Promotion Board today cleared four five star hotels and one entertainment mall, besides three industrial projects.

The ninth meeting chaired by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar cleared altogether nine projects, including two expansion proposals of Vedanta Group.

“Hospitality is the first priority we have set since it is non-polluting industry that provides jobs for our local youth”, Parsekar said.

The nine projects would bring in investment of Rs 1882 crore while creating 2620 jobs, he said.

Almost all the hospitality projects are coming up in the coastal Bardez taluka.

Yet another five star hotel has been approved at Malim in Penha da Franca Panchayat.

Models is also coming up with a high end shopping-cum-entertainment mall at Porvorim.

The IPB today also cleared a new pharmaceutical unit at Tuem in Pernem by Centaur Pharmaceuticals.

Two proposals of Vedanta were also cleared by the IPB today, one of which is the expansion of its power generation plant at Amona.

The mining company also got an approval to produce DI pipes at its Pig Iron plant at Amona.

While the IPB had earlier cleared 62 projects with an investment of Rs 7114 crore, these 71 projects are expected to generate total employment of over 14,000, said the chief minister.

Nice!! Let there be more development here.......reflecting on comments by John Fernandes, Goans have to learn be competitive enough. After all, every co desires for the best in their employees. There is no place for lax and complacent attitude in the private sector. Only thing that matters is work.

Good work. How much will be the salary for these jobs. Will our Goan be able to run their families with these earnings. Or will our Goan will have to go abroad to make leaving and than the job benefits will go to non Goans.
