Dempo signs Panaji boy Sahil Tavora

Dempo Sports Club on Thursday announced the signing of Sahil Tavora after the 18-year-old gave a final nod to his first professional contract.

The promising youngster, who emerged through the ranks of the Brazil Football Academy, has previously played for SESA Football Academy in the Airtel Goa Professional League this season.

Dempo coach Arthur Papas was highly impressed with Sahil's exploits during the Goa Professional League where he scored on two occasions while completing 5 assists.

He will now move to the club on a three-year deal which includes a transfer fee to his former club.

Speaking at the club house he said, "It's like a dream come true. I always wanted to play for Dempo as it is my childhood club. I cannot describe how excited I am about this."

He would also be a part of the squad for the upcoming I-League matches at Pune and Shillong. Sahil, who plays as an attacking central midfielder, credited his parents and brother who supported his dream.

"They always supported me to become a good player. I even changed my school for better football training. I would always be thankful to my parents and my coaches. Playing in the I-League is my objective and I know it is going to take a lot more hard work and commitment to get there, but it feels good to be another step closer," Sahil said.
