Justice Mishra proposed to be Goa’s second Lokayukta
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 20 April 2016 20:31 ISTRetired Justice P K Mishra would be most probably the Lokayukta for Goa.
Goa government has recommended his name to Governor Mridula Sinha.
“Justice Mishra’s name has been recommended after consulting the Chief Justice of Bombay high court and the Leader of the Opposition”, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar told the media today.
If approved, Goa would get second Lokayukta almost after two years.
Retired Justice Sudarshan Reddy, Goa’s first Lokayukta appointed on 17th October 2013, had resigned within seven months, during the regime of then chief minister Manohar Parrikar.
Since then, government was dilly dallying over the appointment of his successor, claiming that no retired judge was available.
Justice Mishra, former chief justice of Patna high court, has served the state as the chairman of Goa Human Rights Commission.
His performance at the Commission has been exemplary. His term was over recently.
He has also been armed with an equally competent retried IAS officer, Mathew Samuel, as the secretary of Lokayukta.
