Luizinho new GPCC chief, John ousted in 10 months

Luizinho Faleiro, former chief minister of Goa, has been appointed a new chief of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, bringing hardly 10-month tenure of John Fernandes.
An order in this regard has been issued from the office of AICC today evening, confirmed sources from AICC office in Delhi, to goanews.com.
This is in response to the demand made from several quarters of the local Congress, including opposition leader Pratapsing Rane, against the misrule of Fernandes.
Fernandes, the former Rajya Sabha MP, was appointed as the new GPCC president on 18 December last year, on the eve of Goa liberation day.
He however did not even complete 10 months in the office.
63-year old Faleiro, after his defeat in 2007 Assembly election by his one-time disciple Churchill Alemao, had literally kept himself away from Goa politics.
He had voluntarily shifted to North East, to strengthen Congress there, for almost seven years now.
He was made in-charge of seven North-Eastern states - Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
His organizational work had borne fruits and had brought him very close to Sonia Gandhi, the AICC president.
Faleiro, who was a permanent invitee on AICC, was elevated as the AICC general secretary in June last year.
Faleiro’s name came forth as GPCC chief after the high command started receiving several complaints from all quarters of Goa against the newly appointed president Fernandes.
Fernandes had recently expelled former minister Aleixo Sequeira from the party for making anti-party statements and then had also dissolved all the 40 blocks.
Earlier, had had faced ire of opposition leader Rane after Bhalchandra Naik, a businessman, made an allegation that the opposition leader was involved in a mining scam, in the presence of Fernandes.
