Siddharth wins Panaji by over 5000 votes, Cong manages 4600
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 16 February 2015 09:38 ISTSiddharth Kuncalienker of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the Panaji bye-election with a comfortable margin of over 5000 votes.
Congress candidate Surendra Furtado, in a second position, managed to garner almost over 4500 votes, in spite of Congress having no grassroot cadre base in Panaji.
Kuncalienker got 9989 votes, recording a margin of 5368 votes.
Sameer Kelekar, an independent, supported by several groups and individuals managed to get only 624 votes.
Sadanand Vaingankar, another independent, got 140 votes.
He was pushed down by the around 330 voters, who preferred to push NOTA button on the Electronic Voting Machine.
The bye-election was held on 13 February after defence minister Manohar Parrikar, the five-time BJP MLA, had resigned to contest as Rajya Sabha MP from Lucknow to take up major responsibility at national level.
Siddharth Kuncalienker,
1. Create solutions to Panjim's Garbage Problem.
2. Provide Sanitation Services
3. Solve Parking Issues in and around Panjim
4. Make Panjim a cleaner and beautiful city.
---Furtado, people have rejected you, go home----
DO WHAT PARRIKAR COULDN'T DO ALL THESES YEARS. YOU HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY.
@Sandesh , Mumbai
You can be very certain that the new MLA of Panjim, Siddharth Kuncalienker, remote controlled by Defence Minister Parrikar will be more pre-occupied with how much money he can make and how many Properties he will own, during his Term in office.
Forget about development in Panjim. MLA`s are only interested in Token developments and laying of Foundation stones. They keep fit by breaking coconuts, as an offering to the Gods.
With Mining at a stalemate and Income from Tourism declining, Goa is bankrupt.
Garbage :will and can only be cleaned by stray dogs, cows, pigs and crows. Politicians view garbage as a Tourist attraction.
Parking: Forget about it in your life time. The only way parking woes can be solved is by reclaiming the River and sea.
Sanitation: The river and Patto bridge will be seen by Politicians as more than sufficient for Panjims needs. People prefer open defecation. The "call of nature" means being close to nature.
Panjimites should get rid of The Bribery oriented Monserrates (wife & husband).
