Don't think of alternate home in Goa: CM
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 01 April 2013 22:26 ISTGoa cannot be a destination for an alternate house, said chief minister Manohar Parrikar firmly today.
He hit out hard of at the increasing trend of ‘outsiders’ buying holiday homes in Goa.
During a debate on Regional Plan 2021, Parrikar pointed out that hardly eight per cent of its total land is presently available for any kind of development.
“It comes to hardly 40,000 hectares”, he said.
On the other hand, Parrikar said 23 per cent houses in Goa are presently locked.
Out of around 5.66 lakh houses, around 1.25 lakh houses are locked, he provided actual statistics to the House.
He thus also appealed to the people of Goa to keep some land for their children, grand children and even great grand children.
In view of this, Parrikar said the Regional Plan 2021 would be reviewed and placed before the people for public debate before the next Assembly session.
He said even the Outline Development Plans for the cities would be incorporated in the RPG 21.
The demand in this regard, made by Goa Bachao Abhiyan, was always neglected by the erstwhile Congress government led by Digambar Kamat.
