The verdict on Mhadei water diversion against Karnataka has created tension between Goa and Karnataka, affecting the public transport.
Pro-Kannada organisations and Kannada film industry has already given a call for Karnataka Bandh on Saturday.
In view of this and mounting tension in North Karnataka, Goa government has decided not to send its state-run Kadamba Transport buses to Karnataka for three days from today itself.
“We are taking precaution in view of the safety of passengers as well as staff”, said Goa’s transport minister Sudin Dhawalikar.
Parts of the southern state around Belgavi and Huballi have witnessed protests by the people from yesterday evening.
Reports reaching here revealed that some government offices were also attacked by the protestors in Gadag, Dharwad, Naragunda, Navalgudna, Gajendragad and Belgavi.
Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj, who heads Kannada Okkoota, a forum of pro-Kannada organisations, has urged people to co-operate in the complete shutdown in the Karnataka.
Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Sa Ra Govindu has also assured that the Karnataka film industry will give its full support to make the bandh successful.
