Eco-party or Rave party, police probing

Goa police have started investigating into a three-day beach party - Chakravhyuva, planned on Butterfly beach in South Goa this weekend. Though termed as "ecological festival", it is being promoted on rave party websites.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravindra Yadav told PTI that he has
asked Superintendent of Police (South) and Superintendent of Police (Anti Narcotic Cell) to probe into the details of this party.
"I have asked them to check whether there are any illegalities. If we
find any illegality, then we will stop the party," Yadav said.
The three-day long party will begin on 5 February evening. It has
raised several eye brows as it is planned at a coastal stretch named
as Butterfly beach near Agonda village in South Goa.
The media reports expressed worries that the party, which is touted as
an environment awareness campaign party, may end up in being a
drug-laced rave party. It is promoted on the websites of rave parties.
The website http://www.rave.ca/en/event/37698/ terms it as
``the first ecological festival in India on the beautiful beach of
Agonda.''
The official website www.chakraviewfestival.com reads that since Goan
beaches are no longer pristine and clean, it is holding an ecological
festival, where we are tuned with the nature.
They say that the `chill out and Indian music' would be performed by
artists from India, UK, Germany, Italy, Finland, Belgium, Canada,
Russia, South Africa, Iran, Israel and other countries.
When contacted, the organisers stated that it is a festival of art and
culture. It will also involve Indian classical music.
"There will be no drugs. We have designed certain programmes, which
will teach the participants on how to save the ecology," the
organisers who goes by name chakraviewfestivals told PTI.
They said they are a small Delhi-based group of youngsters, who have
carved out this event for the first time in India.
"We have received all the relevant permissions from the authorities,"
the organisers said.
The festivals in Goa are under police scanner after death of Meha
Bahuguna, a Delhi girl, who died allegedly after drug overdose. She
was shifted to the hospital from Sunburn music festival held at
Candolim beach.
