Indian tourist rapes minor Russian girl
GOANEWS DESK | 27 January 2010 12:02 ISTA minor Russian girl was allegedly raped by a domestic tourist on Arambol beach on the Republic Day late evening. She is nine-year old.
Pernem police have registered a case under sections 376 of IPC and 8(2) of Goa Children's Act. Police are on a lookout for the suspects.
Medical report of the girl has confirmed rape. Report has clearly revealed pelvic insertion.
The victim's mother described the horrifying incident: "We were on the beach when two domestic tourists came to us and initiated conversation. When I was speaking to one of them, the second person dragged my child in the water and raped her."
Conusel of Russian Consulate, Vikram Varma is looking into the case. He will meet the victim and her mother today evening.
This is the second case of rape against Russian in the last two months. John Fernandes, local politician from Colva is currently facing judicial custody in Colva Russian rape case.
Russian consulate had issued advisory after the Colva incident advising their citizens not stay out till late night in Goa. They had also raised serious concerns about the security of Russian tourists in Goa. Goa receives maximum foreign tourists from Russia.
However, this incident took place before the night began, on the beach, in a public place.
