A ray of hope: Covid cases & deaths shrinking, more getting cured

Everybody is waiting for the day the torturous period of a pandemic would be over. And looks like the reverse process has started though the situation is still gloomy. The graph of cases, as well as deaths, has started going down while up is the graph of recoveries.

But we may have to wait till the month-end to reach the final conclusion. This is a comparison of two fortnights. 

Compared to the second fortnight of October, there is a decline in the number of Covid19 cases as well as the number of deaths. Also, more people are getting cured, just not in numbers but also in terms of percentage.

The only matter of worry is the death rate being risen among females while Goa also lost two little babies this fortnight. 

GOA COVID SCENARIO: SEP-OCT FORTNIGHTS

Compared to the last fortnight of September, Goa has reported 1555 less Covid19 cases in the last 15 days.

From 16th to 30th September, we had found 7907 people positive for Covid19. But in the last fortnight, this number has gone down to 6352. This is an almost 10 percent decline.

Also, the rate of Covid19 patients getting cured is rising. In the second fortnight, 7036 patients had recovered. But this fortnight showed a recovery of 8031 patients. A rise of seven percent. 

It is not possible to know, however, how many positive patients have recovered during this one month compared to the positive cases detected since it takes a minimum of 14 to 17 days to recover.

DEATHS REDUCING

The month of September had reported highest number of Covid19 deaths since the first death occured on 22nd June. 234 people succumbed to the deadly virus last month. It was nearly half of the deaths (45 percent) reported in one month. 

In the first fortnight of last month, Goa lost 122 lives while the rest 112 were in the second half.

Compared to this, in the last 15 days, 96 deaths have occurred. This however is not a very good situation since the difference is hardly 16 and the death rate is still within 100.  

COVID DEATHS IN GOA

In fact, the month had begun with 13 deaths on the first day. But the double-digit of 10 was then reported only on 9th October and nine deaths on the 6th. Otherwise, it has remained between four to eight deaths a day.

The average death rate has also come down from eight deaths a day last month to six deaths a day now.

But the death rate among females is quite substantial this fortnight. 

Incidentally, 33 females each succumbed to Covid19 during last fortnight and also this month. But compared to 27 percent female deaths last month, it has now gone up to 34 percent, a substantial rise indeed. 

This also includes an eight-month-old baby girl. 

In all, Goa has lost 525 people to date.
