Covid death rate of Sept equals to last two months, 61% being treated at home
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 25 September 2020 21:27 ISTThe month of September is being proved deadly. Goa has lost people equal to what we lost in the last two months of July and August. But in the last two days, Covid deaths seem to be declining.
With three more deaths reported today in the media bulletin, the death toll has reached 386, out of which 191 have been reported in the last 25 days of this month.
The month of July had reported only 41 deaths which zoomed up to 150 in August. And now, in 25 days, we have reached the death toll of the last two months.
In addition, Goa had lost four more lives in the last week of June.
However, compared to eight deaths each reported last month on 24th and 25th, only seven people have succumbed to Covid this month, five yesterday and only two today, till 1.30 pm.
Out of this, a 54-year old male was brought dead to the hospital today morning. And a 63-year old male from Moira village of Bardez today afternoon. He was suffering from sleep apnea and was admitted on 22nd September.
The sudden death of another 65-year old male from Raia in Salcete, who was brought dead to the hospital on 23rd September, also tested Covid positive.
500 TO 700 POSITIVES EVERY DAY
The number of Covid positive patients however seems to be not coming down below 500 in the last 25 days. Today, it’s 519, almost 154 less than yesterday’s 673.
But except seven days to date, Goa has been reporting cases above 500, 600, and even 700 for the rest 18 days.
The lowest number was 306 cases reported on 14th September, followed by 324 on 21st, 344 on 7th, 374 on 7th, 407 each on 13th and 20th as well as 457 on 8th September.
This month has also witnessed cases zooming up to 713 on 3rd and 740 on 12th September.
HOME ISOLATION PREFERRED
As per the media bulletin, the curing rate has also been fairly good, 81 per cent getting recovered. Out of over 31,000 tested positives so far, over 25000 have recovered.
More and more people are also preferring home isolation. Right now, Goa has 8909 patients in the hospitals whereas 13,936 Covid patients being in home isolation. Almost 61 per cent.
