Goa loses 11 young lives within a fortnight, many neglect symptoms

Goa has lost 11 youngsters including two girls between the age group of 26 to 40 within a fortnight this month, due to Covid19. It takes the toll to 25 within this age group.
Three of them died in one day, yesterday. After the death of a 26-year old boy reported yesterday, today’s media bulletin stated that two more youngsters below 35 years of age succumbed to Covid19.
With this, the death toll of this month has reached 120 and a total of 315.
It includes once again 12 lives yesterday and six more till today morning.
A 27-year old girl from Bicholim died yesterday due to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) while she was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus (DM) with Chronic Kidney Disease (KDS).
The 34-year old boy from Baga, Calangute also died yesterday due to ARDS. The mortality bulletin says he was an Obesity patient, having excess body fat.
This is the third death of a youngster reported on the same day as another 26-year old boy from Paroda (Salcete) was brought dead yesterday. The cause of his death is not known except that he was found Covid positive, stated the bulletin.
Similarly, a 38-year old boy from Sangolda, who succumbed to Covid19 on the 13th September, was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus (DM).
On 12th September, the state lost another 28-year old girl from Bardez (place not mentioned) due to respiratory failure. She was suffering from down syndrome.
A boy from Ponda, aged 33, died on 8th September within 21 hours after he was brought to the hospital due to bilateral pneumonia with ARDS.
This month has also claimed the lives of five more young boys: a 36-year old from Vasco on 1st September, a 30-year old from Sao Jose de Areal & 38-year old from Navelim on 2nd September, and two more on 4th September, a 35-year old from Zuarinagar and 38-year old from Mapusa.
The state has also lost a 14-year old girl on 25th July, due to Covid19.
SYMPTOMS NEGLECTED: DEAN
According to GMC Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar, many patients die within less than 24 hours once they are brought to the hospital.
“They are usually tested positive the same day. It implies that they ignore their symptoms for a significant time and admitted at the stage where it is unbearable”, he observes.
In fact, one 52-year old male from St Cruz was rushed to the hospital post-midnight and succumbed to Covid within an hour after he was admitted today. He was also suffering from hypertension.
Five more Covid19 patients died since yesterday, taking the toll of 14th September to 12. A similar number of 12 patients had also died earlier on 8th and 11th September while 11 had died on 6th September.
The mortality bulletin released by the GMC today also reports six more deaths today morning within seven hours, from 2 am to 9 am.
Among the total 11 cases reported in today’s mortality bulletin, seven died due to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrom while three with pneumonia.
They also suffered from varied kinds of comorbities, including obesity and head injury.
