Tablighis congregated in Delhi before Satryo, Gulal, Mass & ZP campaign held in Goa

We are fortunate that only few Tablighi devotees have been found positive for COVID 19 when such religious congregations were held all over India, belonging to all religions, including Goa, during the same time.

The congregation of Tablighi Jamaat was inaugurated at Nizamuddin in Delhi on 9 March and then large gatherings were held between 11 to 15 March, for which thousands of preachers and followers had gathered from all over India and also from other countries, especially Malaysia.

At that time, even in Delhi, religious gatherings were not banned, forget the nationwide ban.

At the same time, Tablighis also held their annual event in Pakistan where around 2.5 lakh devotees had gathered. That has also affected Pakistan in spreading COVID 19. (Click here to read the report)

46 TABLIGHIS BEING QUARANTINED IN GOA

In Goa, police have identified 46 such Tablighis, who had attended Nizamuddin event. They have been sent for quarantine and their reports will come by tomorrow, said Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.

Chief Minister Dr Sawant also told media that none of these 46 Tablighis are Goans and we need to find out why they came to Goa after Delhi’s national event.

Today’s news report by BBC gives all the details of the Jammat, including its history and what they do and how they propagate the ideals of their Jamaat.

“The Jamaat sends out delegates to different countries for 40 days a year and sometimes for shorter durations. The preachers believe in person-to-person contact, so they knock on the doors of ordinary Muslims to give them the message of Islam”, says the report. (Click here to read the BBC report.)

After going through several news reports of recognised media organisations, goanews.com has compiled the following chronology of events in Goa and in other parts of India.

We were fortunate that other social and religious gatherings did not result into spreading the virus. Otherwise, it would have been a big disaster.

While Tablighi’s congregation has already crossed 14 days, unfortunately our politicians are still allowing and participating in religious events, including today’s Ramnavami attended by two ministers in Telengana. Pictures of this blatant violation of lockdown have gone viral. (Click here to watch video report of Ramnavami in Telengana)

Following is the Chronology of religious, social and political gatherings held in Goa and elsewhere in India, with few links to news reports.
