MGP guns for Parsekar’s head to begin alliance talks

The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party has finally pulled out its guns, demanding Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s head, to begin talks of continuing the alliance.
“We had aligned with the BJP to make Manohar Parrikar the chief minister, not Laxmikant Parsekar”, said party president and minister Dipak Dhawalikar, younger brother of party supremo and minister Sudin.
The central executive meeting held today morning has also given time to the BJP to decide till the Code of Conduct begins with the announcement of Assembly election in Goa.
“We have decided our counter-strategy, but we will announce it only after election is announced”, said Dipak.
The BJP has however reacted cautiously, saying that this issue would be resolved by two central ministers – Manohar Parrikar and Nitin Gadkari.
But it has indirectly started shooting back, by organising its Vijay Sankalp rally in Ponda on 17th December.
This is the first rally the BJP has organised in the constituencies represented by the MGP.
Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar is also the general secretary of the MGP.
The MGP is beginning its election campaign, again from Ponda, from 11th December with its first official election campaign rally.
The Goa Suraksha Manch, which had made public appeal to the MGP to break away from the BJP, said they are still waiting for the MGP.
“While we started walking alone, it became a bicycle when Shiv Sena came, then it became a rickshaw with Goa Praja Party. Tomorrow, it could become a four-wheeler”, said Anand Shirodkar, the GSM president.
Minister Dipak however came down heavily on the government, accusing Parsekar of giving the MGP a step-motherly treatment in developmental works.
He was also upset for not taking MGP into confidence while taking important decisions like banning new recruitments immediately or going for cashless transactions from 30th December.
“Parrikar was not like this. We are not comfortable with Parsekar. He must step down”, said junior Dhawalikar.
It is now becoming amply clear that this hide and seek game would ultimately result into the MGP breaking ties with the BJP as they are making such demands, which are impossible to fulfil.
MGP is chewing more than it can bite. Good for them, it is about time, the brothers, MG party is dumped to the dustbins of history as it is irreverent and insignificant in the present time.
