Yes, the 7th Pay Commission pay scale would be implemented from 1st January for the employees and from 1st December for the pensioners.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar announced it today, after the cabinet meeting.
The immediate beneficiaries are 55,447 employees of the government and aided institutions (largely educational) and 45,002 pensioners.
It would not be immediately applicable to the employees of judiciary, semi-government bodies like corporations etc as well as panchayat and municipal employees.
“Separate instructions would be issued for them in due course of time”, said Parsekar, not mentioning when.
The 7th Pay Commission would cost the public exchequer with an additional burden of Rs 50 crore towards salaries, with the monthly salary bill rising to Rs 250 crore.
