Mauvin undecided when to quit Cong to join BJP
GOANEWS DESK, PANAJI | 18 October 2016 21:47 ISTCongress MLA Mauvin Godinho is still undecided when to resign from the party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
“I have to resign if I have to contest next election on the BJP ticket, but still not decided when”, Mauvin told goanews.com.
With Assembly election coming close, the Dabolim MLA is coming out more and more openly against his party.
Today, he laughed out the 25-point chargesheet his party has issued against the BJP.
Though the BJP leadership has embraced the Congress rebel for couple of years now, his seat is caught up into controversy as the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party is not prepared to give up its hold over the seat.
The MGP had lost the seat to Mauvin in 2012 election.
In fact the junior alliance partner in the BJP-led government recently had a workers’ convention to show its strength.
Mauvin has been claiming that the MGP has lost its base in Dabolim since last five years.
There are rumours that if MGP remains adamant on the seat, Mauvin may be shifted to Cortalim.
But sources close to Mauvin say that he would not contest from Cortalim.
However, he has also not decided when to formally quit the part to join the saffron brigade.
“There may be another Assembly session in November. I will resign after that, but not decided exactly when”, he told goanews.com.
