Karnataka CM invites Goa, Maha counterparts for Mhadei talks

Karnataka has taken initiative in holding tripartite talks on Mhadei water dispute by writing to Goa and Maharashtra chief ministers.

In a letter written to Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has offered to take initiative in holding talks, at the suggestion made by Mhadei water dispute tribunal.

To make it happen, he has also suggested that chief secretaries of all the three states should talk to each other and finalise the date of talks.

He has brought it on record what happened on 1st September during the cross examination at the tribunal.

“Justice J M Panchal, Justice Vinay Mittal and Justice P S Narayana have orally advised that the CMs of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra may explore the possibility of arriving at an amicable solution to the pending water dispute by talks and negotiations among themselves.”

All the three judges have also suggested that the three CMs may work out an amicable solution with or without the mediation of a third party.
