BBSM snaps talks with Govt, Bhembre Com to decide poll strategy

The Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch has decided not to go for any talks with the government but rather plan its election strategy to defeat the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

The meeting held last night has also decided to go ahead with its action plan of showing black flags to the ministers, including defence minister Manohar Parrikar.

The BBSM has accordingly set up a political cell under the chairmanship of Adv Uday Bhembre, former MLA and Konkani stalwart.

“There is no point in holding any talks with the government since we have a sole demand to withdraw grants to the Church-run English primary schools, where we expect action from the government”, Bhembre told goanews.com.

The BBSM leaders appeared upset with Chief Minister’s attempt to hold first round of talks where he simply did not touch the issue of grants but spoke only on what steps government has taken to encourage primary education in Konkani and Marathi mediums.

Though CM had said the talks would continue, yesterday’s meeting unanimously decided not to continue with such fruitless talks.

“We want action from the government, nothing less nothing more”, said Bhembre.

The political cell comprising few other members would submit a report to the BBSM on two options: 1) Support any particular party in the next election or 2) Support independent candidates.

“The BBSM will neither be converted into a political party nor it would contest Assembly election”, Bhembre made it clear.

He also said the organisation would go ahead with its action plan of holding black flag demonstrations at official functions of Parrikar as well as state ministers, except union Ayush minister Shripad Naik, forest minister Rajendra Arlekar and St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh.

These three BJP leaders have supported the BBSM demand.

The BBSM, said Bhembre, has also decided to go ahead with indoor public meetings, which were earlier suspended due to monsoon.
