I am coming back to Goa to take over: Parrikar

Defence minister Manohar Parrikar is all set to come back to Goa, to lead the forthcoming Assembly election.
He would probably take over the reins of the state as the chief minister once again, though he did not state it categorically.
“Yes, I am coming back,” he told this journalist yesterday in Bicholim, without elaborating.
Though he did not specify when, Parrikar expects a central cabinet reshuffle any time in next four months.
The situation has been invited by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which has gone against its political outfit –the ruling BJP, on the issue of Medium of Instruction.
The RSS, leading the Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch, is demanding that the BJP government withdraws government grants to English medium primary schools run by the Church.
The saffron party however has gone against its election promise by continuing grants to the Church schools, started by its predecessors – the Congress.
The ruling BJP has suddenly gone into panic mode with BBSM getting huge crowds for its public meetings, which appeals to the Goans to defeat the party for backstabbing the people of Goa.
The BJP however does not want to antagonise the Church, which holds 25% Christian vote bank, without which the saffron brigade cannot come back to power.
As situation is going out of control of Parrikar’s successor Laxmikant Parsekar, it is learnt that Parrikar’s comeback has become crucial for the BJP’s survival.
A high level delegation, led by Parrikar and Parsekar, had last week met BJP president Amit Shah in this regard.
BACK IN 2 YEARS
Parrikar had resigned as the Goa chief minister on 8th November 2014 to take over as India’s defence minister the next day.
After resigning from Goa Assembly, he contested for Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh.
However, he need not contest his Panaji seat again to take over as the CM of Goa if he takes over in September this year.
Any Indian citizen can hold ministerial position, provided he or she contests as MLA or MP within six months.
Though the term of Goa Assembly ends in March next year, Parrikar may take over as Goa CM even in July if elections are held by December.
After serving as Goa CM for 30 months from 9th March 2012, Parrikar has been holding the position of country’s defence minister for the last 18 months.
